The cottage has been owned by various members of the same family for many many years and is now owned by nieces and nephew of Bill and Trea Buxcey, the previous owners. It is situated a stone's throw from the beach in the hamlet of Ardaneaskan and is just a few miles from the popular lochside village of Lochcarron. Lochcarron has a pub that serves real ale and good food, a well-stocked Spar supermarket with Post Office, a gallery/gift shop, several artists' studios, a very good bistro/restaurant and an award winning café.
Ardaneaskan is less than 10 miles from Strathcarron Railway Station (on the Kyle Line), is easily accessible by car and is a beautiful 2 hour drive from Inverness Airport.
The Isle of Skye is 30 miles round the other side of Loch Carron and the Highland mountains are within easy reach. The area offers great walking, cycling and touring with plenty of quiet coves, shorelines and woods to explore. The beach by the cottage is a great place from where to explore the loch by kayak (if you have one and are confident paddling on open water). The Kyle Line, said to be one of the best railway journeys in the country, runs along the other side of Loch Carron. Lochcarron is on the south-western corner of the celebtared the North Coast 500 route .
Places of interest close by include Strome Castle, Applecross via the Bealach na Bà, Plockton, Shieldaig, Loch Torridon, Kyle of Lochalsh and the bridge to Skye, Eilean Donan Castle.
Slightly further afield there is The Isle of Skye, Glenelg Brochs, Inverness, Dingwall, Loch Ness, Fort William and Fort Augustus.
Of course, once you see the stunning location of the cottage, you may decide to stay local and enjoy the 'away from it all' sense of peace and breathtaking beauty surrounding the cottage, garden and beach.
