The cottage has been owned by various members of the same family for many many years. It is situated a literal stone's throw from the beach in the hamlet of Ardaneaskan and is just a few miles from the popular lochside village of Lochcarron.
Lochcarron has a pub in the village and another one just a few miles up the road at Strathcarron. The village has a well-stocked Spar supermarket with Post Office and several artists' studios. There are excellent cafés and restaurants in the village and a few others in the surrounding area.
Ardaneaskan is less than 10 miles from Strathcarron Railway Station (on the Kyle Line), is easily accessible by car and is a beautiful 2 hour drive from Inverness Airport.
The Isle of Skye is 30 miles round the other side of Loch Carron and the Highland mountains are within easy reach. The area offers great walking, cycling and touring with plenty of quiet coves, shorelines, hills/mountains and woods to explore.
The beach by the cottage is a great place from where to explore the loch by kayak (if you have one and are confident paddling on open water). The Kyle Line, said to be one of the best railway journeys in the country, runs along the other side of Loch Carron.
Lochcarron is on the south-western corner of the celebrated the North Coast 500 route.
