Taobh na Dachaidh Holiday Cottagein the Scottish Highlands

Terms and Conditions

The T&Cs for booking and staying in Taobh na Dachaidh Self-Catering Holiday Cottage have two main sections;  Booking Fees and General Cottage Usage.  There is also a Please Note.

Booking Fees

  1. A deposit of 25% of the booking fee must be made within 48 hours of receiving your confirmation email if your booking is made 42 days (6 weeks) or more before the commencement of your stay. If you wish, you can pay the full amount at this stage.

  2. Any remainder of the booking fee must be paid no later than 42 days before the commencement of your stay.  We will send you a gentle reminder when the balance payment due date arrives.

  3. If your booking is made less than 42 days before the commencement of your stay then the whole booking fee must be paid within 48 hours of receiving your confirmation email.

  4. If you discover that you are unable to take up your booking and you notify us more than 42 days before the commencement of your stay, then we will cancel your booking and refund any payments made in excess of the 25% deposit. Sorry, but after the 42 day cut-off, we are unable to offer any refunds. You may like to take out holiday insurance to cover this possibility.

  5. To cover unexpected cleaning following your departure and/or unnotified damages, we add a returnable housekeeping deposit of £75 for a one week stay or £100 for a two week stay to the booking invoice.  This will be repaid to you in full if you have met the conditions as described in the General Cottage Usage points 1, 2 and 3 below.  Further information about this is to be found in the Welcome Notes on your arrival.

  6. In the cottage Welcome Notes there is a form on which you can indicate by which method you wish to have your cleaning/housekeeping deposit returned.
Unfortunately for international payments we are charged £8 per transaction so if you wish your deposit to be paid back in this way, we will deduct this from the deposit amount returned.

  7. A small fee of £40 (for a one week stay) or £70 (for a two week stay) per booking is levied if you wish to bring a dog with you to the cottage.  Please note that only small dogs are permitted (collie sized dog or smaller).

General Cottage Usage

  1. The inventory of items in the cottage (held by us, the owners) will be checked before your arrival and following your departure - please let us know if there is anything missing or damaged at any point during your stay.

  2. All damage, breakages or missing items must be paid for.

  3. We ask that guests maintain a good standard of cleanliness of the cottage and respect the fact that this is a long-standing family home.

  4. We state here that no wetwipes, sanitary towels or similar are to be flushed down the toilet.  Anything other than the three Ps (pee, poo or (toilet) paper) will cause a blockage in the soil pipe and should this occur we will charge you for the unblocking.

  5. We ask that in preparation for departure you clean the cottage to the standard as described in the guidelines included within the Welcome Notes (to be found and read on you arrival).

  6. All guests (including children) must be made aware on arrival at the cottage of safety issues as described in the Welcome Notes.  These discuss protocols for dealing with fire safety, use of the cottage and gardens and general usage of and access to the immediate areas, particularly the rocks and the beach.  Guests must accept full responsibility for the safety of all members of their party, particularly in the gardens and surrounding areas.

  7. Arrivals - you can arrive any time after 4pm on the first day of your stay. Keys to be collected from the location described to you (via email) prior to your arrival.

  8. Departures - we would appreciate your departure being no later than 9am on the morning of your last day.  This is to ensure that we sufficient time on change-over-day to prepare the cottage for subsequent guests.  Keys to be returned to the location described in the Welcome Notes..

  9. Taobh na Dachaidh is a no-smoking cottage.  Smoking is permitted in the garden and surrounding areas.

  10. If at any point during a guest's stay we (the owners and/or our local representatives) deem the behaviour of the guests to be inappropriate or detrimental to either the cottage, its environs or disturbs the neighbours we reserve the right to request that the guests and any others staying with them leave the property and that no refund of any booking fee would be made.

  11. The contents of the Welcome Notes form part of these Terms and Conditions.  In them are further details about specific things within the cottage such as heating controls, fire safety and guidelines about cleaning prior to your departure.  If you would like to read these Notes prior to your arrival then you can download a copy, see the link at the foot of this webpage.

By ticking that you have read the T&C's when you make your online booking, you are agreeing to them in their entirity (which includes this note about our right to make amendments and that you agree to reviewing them just prior to your arrival).  A copy of the Terms and Conditions: General Cottage Usage will be included in the welcome notes which will be found in the cottage on your arrival.
